Paige + Francisco: Proposal in Puerto Rico

Our newly engaged G.St couple, Paige and Francisco, met while both teaching at a high school in Newark, NJ. Paige had been planning to teach English for a year abroad at a rural college in Bolivia, but when that plan fell through, she applied to teach a tutoring program at the high school where Francisco taught. Their paths crossed frequently and soon enough they both were looking forward to the hour they were able to chat each day. Paige shared she finally mustered the courage to ask Francisco out for a drink after work…and… you guessed it, it was a success!

Paige and Francisco went on a vacation to Puerto Rico (where Francisco grew up until the age of 12), and Francisco had been planning to propose to his sweetheart on a romantic evening stroll on the beach. Unfortunately, he was feeling under the weather and decided to wait and not “force the moment.” He knew he would feel when the moment was right- and that’s just what happened. He had been carrying the ring with him and that following evening, the couple had dinner at Marmalade restaurant in Old San Juan. Seated at a cozy and intimate corner table, side-by-side, Paige expresses it was “a sweet and romantic atmosphere” that led them to reminisce and reflect on their first days together and how their relationship has grown.

  

Francisco felt the vibe that this may be "the time", went to go freshen up and all of a sudden, one of his favorite songs started to play. He shares that he had always wanted to play this particular song for the woman he loved, and so, he took that as a clear sign, this was THE MOMENT! Although he knew Paige did NOT want a public proposal, he took matters into his own hands, got down on one knee and asked for her hand. It truly was the perfect moment because it happened naturally and in the time that felt just right. Paige mentions that she had been anticipating and hoping the proposal would happen during this trip, but when it seemed like it wasn’t, she found herself frustrated but also accepted that it would happen sometime soon. Oh but to her pleasant surprise, it happened that night, and once it did, both felt a sense of comfort and relief, and ultimately very excited for the future!

The hunt for the ring began with the couple meeting with our Senior Sales Specialist, Dana, and Paige had originally thought she wanted an oval solitaire engagement ring with a solid gold band, however, once she started exploring other options and trying on several different rings, her horizon broadened. After the initial consultation, Francisco worked with Dana to create the perfect ring for his future bride- landing on the gorgeous Carlisle setting with a round brilliant diamond. Paige expresses that she loves her ring so much she has “suddenly become left-handed” and is constantly gazing at how perfect it is!
